David Poyser is a Postmodern artist and MPhil research graduate of the Royal College of Art, London, 1998-2001, who described his portfolio of artwork as "striking and original" and awarded him a solo exhibition of paintings at the RCA's David Hockney Gallery. He also studied at Loughborough College of Art and Design DipAD 1971-74, Newcastle University MFA 1978-80, London University Institute of Education 1987-88 PGCE, and Mansfield College of Art 1969-71 Foundation Art Course.
History of art interests include ideas about the Sublime in American Abstract Painting and English Romantic Art. His first exhibition was in 1965 as 1st Prize Winner in a national junior painting competition, at the Tate Gallery, London, Manchester Whitworth Art Gallery and Glasgow Museum & Art Gallery. He also exhibited at the nationally prestigious Northern Young Contemporaries, Manchester. Travel includes an epic 10,000 mile US road trip through the vast western landscape, which inspired later works, and crossing the Alberta Prairies to paint in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
