David Poyser artist

David Poyser, MFA Painting, is a modern & contemporary artist-painter. His portfolio of artworks draws on inventiveness with ideas and materials, observation, a life interest in and feeling for the sublime in English Romantic Art and American abstract painting, informed by epic road trips across the vast US western landscape, the Alberta Prairies and Rocky Mountains, and northern France via Paris south to the French Riviera. KPMG acquired artworks from his Royal College of Art MPhil exhibition.

Newcastle University 1978-80 MFA Painting by studio practice, exhibitions and academic art history dissertation - appointed a prestigious Studio Demonstrator in Painting position for duration of my MFA (a junior teaching assistant), with three exhibitions at the university's acclaimed Hatton Gallery. The period includes the Fine Art department's famous international "golden era", when it was widely considered the most progressive, formidable and vibrant art school in Britain. It was one of "Eight art schools that changed the world" alongside the Bauhaus and Black Mountain College, USA, which is discussed in the following Royal Academy article:

Royal College of Art, London 1997-98 PEP Post Experience Programme, developing to 1998-2001 MPhil RCA Research - an investigation to create new methods and artworks through textiles and painting interdisciplinary materials experimentation, including studio practice, research methods course, exhibitions, academic dissertation and Viva Voce examination - awarded a solo exhibition at the RCA's David Hockney Gallery c1997 of large landscape paintings from the Canadian Rocky Mountains made 1994 and the English New Forest and Cornwall, Devon and Dorset sea and shore made 1994-97, and in addition 1998-2001 to five more mixed exhibitions of research work at the RCA's Henry Moore Gallery (4) and the Gulbenkian Gallery (1).
